My art is my prayer, meditation, bridge to the Great Mystery, and some pieces function as gentle artivism. This illustration was made in 2019 for the first Spanish Edition of the Life As Ceremony Biannual Journal, in collaboration with accompanying text by Veronica Boza. It features an indigenous Costa Rican HUEmxn tending to and communing with the Mesoamerican rainforest I carry in my heart.

I was born and raised in unceded Huetar land in San José, Costa Rica. This country excels in biodiversity conservation efforts but has failed its indigenous peoples with neglect, little health assistance, low education, and continued illegal deforestation and occupation of their lands. Eight indigenous ethnic groups exist in Costa Rica: Huetar, Maleku, Bribri, Cabécar, Brunka, Ngäbe, Bröran, and Chorotega.

This matte giclée print comes with a lightweight wooden hanger and will fit any interior decor.

• Hangers made from natural wood
• Hanger piece thickness: 0.2″ (0.5 mm)
• Hanger piece width: 0.79″ (2 cm)
• Paper weight: 192 g/m²
• Poster secured by magnets
• Comes with a matching string
• Wood sourced from the Baltics
• Paper sourced from Japan
• Blank product sourced from the UK
